Awards for Excellence in the
field of Dementia.
Nominations are now open for the inaugural “Academy Awards” of the
world of Dementia Care. If you are working on new initiatives for
intervention, new methods of rehabilitation or just new ways of
treating dementia patients then get yourself nominated for one of the
“gongs” on offer. As an award winner, you will have your contributions
acknowledged amongst your peers and it will look fantastic on your CV
too.
These awards will be presented at the Awards dinner at the Alzheimers
New Zealand conference in 6-8 May 2010 in front of an audience of
international speakers, researchers and experts in the care of people
with dementia.
The
Catagories are:
- Outstanding contribution to
the field of Dementia
- Team of the year
- Unsung hero for 2009
- Volunteer of the Year
Judging:
All entries will be reviewed separately by a member of the judging
panel. Entries will be considered against a set of criteria and judged
on how closely the criteria are met. The panel will then meet to decide
which entries will receive the awards. Decisions of the panel will be
final.

Judging
Criteria:
The awards programme promotes good practices in the care of people with
dementia. All entries from individuals and organizations will be judged on their own merits. Judges will
be looking for programmes or particular events that show evidence of :
- Planning
- Strategy
- Results
- Innovation
Judges may present one award for excellence in each category and can
also choose to award merit certificates. One premier award may also be
selected from all entries received.
Merit Certificates – evidence of good practices with good results
Award for Excellence – good practices but setting new benchmarks in the
way care is delivered
Premier Award – exceptional level of professional care or ground
breaking research to improve the quality of life for people affected by
dementia.
Entry
Process
Prepare one copy of your entry (including supporting material) and
attach the completed official entry form
Send the entire package to reach Alzheimers New Zealand national office
by Friday 16 April 2010
What to
send?
- Completed entry form (ensure you understand and fill
this in accurately and clearly as it is an important part of the judges
assessment of your entry
- Written statement about the
entry including all background information and references, the results
and the benefits to the wider dementia community. (Please limit the size
of the document to 5 A4 pages or less).
- Any supporting materials that
you feel would enhance your application
