How can we make ourselves heard and relevant to industry? What makes for a “good” occupational physician? What do our patients want and value in the workplace clinic and workplace doctor? We will start with the traditional workplace visit on the Friday to another old fashioned, high impact, highly hazardous industry as well as hosting some special interest group meetings during the morning. Our keynote speaker is Dr Olivia Carlton, Head of Occupational Health of the London Underground. She is a speaker who comes highly recommended, who has “been there and done that” and will provide us all with plenty of food for thought as we look to position ourselves within the workplace for 2010 and forward. Other speakers will include industry and union leaders as well as commentators from our own profession who will provide valuable insights as to what is important for them from the other side of the desk.
