We look forward to welcoming you to the 39th Annual Conference of Perioperative Nurses which will be held at the Wellington Town Hall from the 20th – 22nd of September 2012.   Our conference is titled  “Coolest Little Capital in the World” with three broad themes: Culture, Communication and Challenges. These themes offer key challenges for all Peri Operative Nurses.   We are aware of the issues facing our current and future workforce whether working in Theatres, PACU, MINZ or Aesthetics. The conference committee has worked hard to provide an opportunity to build, reinforce and refocus relationships.   The Keynote Speakers are experts drawn from New Zealand and Australia who will provide us with a diversity of material to support you, the delegates, in facing the issues around Culture, Communication and Challenges that you meet every day. Our Conference this year is chaired by Tina Ackland. Tina was a member of an inaugural group of Theatre Nurses who met to form a National Body in 1973, this seminar was held in Wellington. Tina was also a member of the 2003 Conference Committee.   It is highly appropriate that the conference this year is taking on a focus of Culture, Communication, Challenges in light of our increasing Cultural diversity - the on-going challenges around communication that this bring, our increasing use of a unique language in Health  - are we understood?   We have some highly respected speakers • Nigel Latta, registered Clinical Psychologist & Author • Vicky Warwick, RN, ACORN President • Rosemary Knight, RN, Plain English Specialist, Document Clarity Team • Kerry Prendergast   We remain grateful for the on-going generous support from the Medical Technology Industry which allows us to deliver one of the most affordable Health Professional Conferences.
