Thank you to all of those who attended this year's conference, it was a great success!
Conference presentations will be available on the website conference page shortly.
NZSRM members and conference attendees will be advised by email once the presentations are available on the website.
Risk communication and
consultation are essential for our understanding of risks and risk
management, to convey our perceptions of risks, and help key
stakeholders tell us what they are concerned about.
Good risk communication and consultation enriches our understanding of
the risks we face to enable us to manage those risks more
effectively. These are, therefore, critical components of
effective risk management.
Our topical ‘Talking
Risk, Taking Risk’ theme has a main focus on communication
and consultation in the context of managing risk. It stems
from:
- The imminent
publication of the ISO 31000 international standard on Risk Management,
as derived from our own AS/NZS 4360: 2004 Risk Management standard.
- The forthcoming publication
of a joint Australasian handbook on risk communication
Our ‘Talking Risk,
Taking Risk’ programme aims to bring people of different
disciplines together to present and share new developments in risk
management, particularly in the communication and consultation element
of the risk management process.
The programme includes keynote presentations, seminars and practical
workshops that provide a strong range of information on risk
communication from a variety of viewpoints - refer [programme page].
The programme will appeal to those from both the public and private
sectors including directors, managers, academics, risk practitioners,
decision makers, communications specialists, and all others with a
pragmatic interest in managing risk well.
In line with the objectives of the New Zealand Society for Risk
Management, the conference programme will engage and challenge
participants to expand their knowledge and practice of risk management
for application in the complex world of today and the future.
Te
Papa Tongarewa on Wellington's waterfront provides a
wonderful setting for the conference. And, as ever, there
will be informal and formal opportunities to socialise and network with
your peers. These start in the evening of Wednesday 5 November with a
social event. Bring your family along to watch spectacular fireworks
from our harbour-side vantage point. The conference dinner
will be held on the Thursday evening with a highly entertaining theme
of ‘illusion’.
Register
now to be part of this great learning and
networking
experience.
