Opened on 6 February 2011 Te Raukura/Te Wharewaka o Poneke is a brand new, purpose-built
centre in the heart of Wellington’s prestigious waterfront. A unique mix of traditional with a
contemporary context.
The programme for the Opening Powhiri is as follows:
15.00 - Guests arrive at Te Wharewaka at front of the building
15.30 - Haka Powhiri starts
16.00 - Powhiri ends
16.15 - Hangi Buffet Meal
18.00 - Function Ends

A Cultural Evening at Te Kainga - Pipitea Marae ‘home away from home’
This evening has been organised to give delegates the opportunity to learn about Maori culture
and tradition through the participation in some fantastic workshops. Tickets to attend can be
booked through the registration form. Transport will be provided from the Amora Hotel to take
you to the Pipitea Marae.
18.00 - Welcome from Mana Whenua and Korero on Pipitea Marae and surrounding areas of
significance to the Iwi by Mana Whenua
19.00 - 20.30 Delegates get to rotate round the following workshops:
Poi making (Ngati Poneke)
Waiata (Ngati Poneke)
Haka demo/participation (Ngati Poneke)
Kai Demo - Demonstration will include Korero around Maori fishing and customary rights, best
practices around preparation and cooking Kai Moana. Tasting for all participants at the end of the
session.
20.30 - The Kai team will serve out the tasting plates from their cooking session to all guests
20.50 - Show/performance lead by Ngati Poneke Young Maori Club
21.00 - 21.30 - Mass performance by Ngati Poneke Club

Film Screening ‘Face to Face’ at the Amora Hotel
Australian Director Michael Rymer’s new movie Face to Face is based on David Williamson’s
Multi-award winning play of the same name. [www.facetofacethemovie.com].
Face to Face dramatises the process of Community Conferencing. A diverse group of Australians
meet in Conference to explore guilt and responsibility and decide the fate of a violent young
man. The stellar ensemble cast of Face to Face includes Vince Colosimo, Sigrid Thornton and
Luke Ford.
Tickets for the film screening costs $15.00 per person. Tickets to attend can be booked through
the conference registration form.

Conference Dinner – Amora Hotel
The Conference Dinner is the social highlight of the conference. This dinner will talk place on
Friday evening in the Amora Hotel. A three course meal and drinks will be served followed by
entertainment. Ticket price: $75 per person.
